John M. Becker

John M. Becker is a graduate of Oberlin College and Northeastern University School of Law and has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 1994. He served as law clerk to Justice Neil L. Lynch of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He is currently of counsel to Sandulli Grace, P.C., where he has practiced labor and employment law on behalf of unions and employees since 1996.

John serves individual and union clients in both the private and public sectors, but he has specialized in representing public safety unions, particularly unions representing municipal police officers. He has helped clients negotiate collective bargaining agreements, arbitrate grievances, and pursue various matters in court and in numerous state agencies. He has also brought litigation to enforce employees' rights under the Fair Labor Standards Act and other laws.

John's interest in providing legal knowledge to union members has led him to teach courses in labor and employment matters at the UMass Lowell Labor Extension program and the Boston Labor Guild. He was also chosen to speak at the Legal Rights Seminar of the National Association of Police Organizations and the annual meeting of the New England Consortium of State Labor Relations Agencies. He has also served as an employee-side commentator for the Massachusetts Civil Service Reporter and has been active in the labor and employment bar.

John and his wife Mary Christin, live in Waltham, Massachusetts, where John is attempting to landscape his yard entirely with native plants. Mary, a social worker, is admissions director for Maristhill Nursing and Rehab Center in Waltham. In his spare time, John sings and plays guitar with Downeast Revival, a group specializing in traditional Canadian, Irish, and country music.
